1- Can you find me a job? I am a Career Counselor, not a Recruiter. I can help you develop an action plan so that you will be more successful in your job search. My job is to assist you through the career process. I will also provide you with as many leads, websites, and other contact information that I can. 2- I have some educational related questions as well as career issues; can you help me in this area? Fortunately, this is one area that sets me apart from many career counselors out there. Because I have worked for several colleges as an educational and career counselor, I’m well aware of the processes and challenges that effect many students and can assist you in this area as well. 3- How often do we have to meet? This is initially up to you and your budget, but my usual recommendation is once a week. 4- How many appointments does it take to complete the career process? Or for me to reach my goals? Well, that all depends on where you start and how much help you need from me. Some of my clients will spend only a few appointments with me and others will work with me for awhile. On the average most clients will spend somewhere between 5 and 10 appointments. 5- Do I have to see you for a minimum number of appointments? Do I have to sign a contact? No, there are no minimums and no contracts. I base by services on an appointment by appointment basis. 6- I don’t live near your office; can you still work with me? Yes, I have successfully worked with many clients in other areas and states using the phone, fax, e-mail and postal mail. 7- I saw your information listed in the Best Selling book, “What Color is Your Parachute”, and it had a red asterisk by it. What does this mean? It means that when you wish I will provide you with counseling from a spiritual point of view. i.e., I’m not afraid to talk about God if that is something that you are looking for. 8- What do the letters after your name mean? How long have you been practicing? The letters M.Ed., stand for Masters Degree in Education. The letters CCDV, means that I received a Post Masters Certificate in Career Development (this took an additional 2 years of training beyond my Masters Degree in Education). I have been practicing for over 13 years now.
