I offer one-on-one individual personalized career and educational counseling. I begin with a free 30 min. initial phone consultation.
In the Career Decision Making Model there are generally 4 areas to explore:
1) Self-Exploration: this is usually the beginning step to investing one’s self…who am I? With this step I provide you with the assessment tests needed to determine your, Values, Interests, Personality Type and Skills. I then complete interpretations of the test results and we finalize this stage with an exercise of taking all the test results and putting them all together to see what occupations/majors etc., match the results found from your self exploration.
2) Career Exploration: in this stage we begin to find out more about what can you do….
We usually begin this stage with an exercise in Researching. This can also encompass researching Job Markets/Careers, Job Types, Employers, Work Environment, Informational Interviewing and different Programs of Study.
3) Goal Setting: this particular area covers the questions and answers about what exactly are your options? We can discuss, decision making, clarifying, setting clear objectives and testing reality.
4) Career/Job Search: how do I get there? The fourth area covers the entire job search process
from making an action plan, making contacts, resume writing, sending resumes
over the internet, letter writing, interviews, negotiations, and internet
job search.
